Lau Siew Mei

Lau Siew Mei’s first novel, Playing Madame Mao, was published in Australia, Greece and the UK. It was shortlisted for the Christina Stead Prize for Fiction in the 2001 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards and its manuscript was shortlisted for Best Emerging Queensland Author in the 1999 inaugural Queensland Premier’s Literary Awards.

Her stories have been broadcast on the BBC World Service and ABC Radio National, and published in Australia, USA, Canada, Singapore and the UK.

She has been awarded Australia Council and Arts Queensland literary grants, a Varuna Writers’ Residential Fellowship and an Asialink Literature Residency in Malaysia.

Yin’s Magic Dragon is Lau Siew Mei’s first children’s book. It was published by Black Dog Books in August 2007.
