Richard Plunkett grew up on a farm in central Victoria. He started work as a cadet journalist at 'The Age', and was later one of the founding journalists on 'The Big Issue' magazine. He wrote travel guides for Lonely Planet Publications for 10 years, covering destinations such as India, Turkey and Sri Lanka. His favourite destination is Istanbul, and his least favourite is Narayanganj, a city in Bangladesh built on a swamp.
He is married to an astonishingly beautiful scientist, lives in Kensington, Melbourne, and is currently studying for a law degree.
